We are proud to announce the winners of the 2023-2024 Gary Harvey and Bev Jones sportsmanship awards: Kendall Patterson and Abram Bogue! These 8th grade students played at least three sports this year and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout each season. This award was voted on by all of the DMS coaches and teachers and is a huge honor for us to present (thank you Mr. Hargrave!)! Congratulations to Kendall and Abram on this well deserved award!

We had five eighth grade students that qualified for the RC PRIDE Work Ethic Certification at Driver this year! This means they attained high marks in nine academic and work ethic competencies. Congratulations and excellent work to Jorja Anderson, Julia Hargarten, Breaundra Michael, Kendall Patterson, and Adalyn Shank! To receive this honor, students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher, have an attendance rate of 98% or better, receive 1 or less discipline referrals during the entire school year, and show dedication to serving others through logging a minimum of 4 community service hours. These students also had three teachers sign off stating that they displayed Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency (PRIDE) on a daily basis throughout their eighth grade year.

Pictured are the current 8th graders who are enrolled in the Randolph County Promise program! This organization makes it easy for families to start an Indiana 529 Direct Savings Plan account for future education. Once enrolled the Community Foundation of Randolph County opens a scholarship account for the student and deposits an initial $25 to kick-start their scholarship account. Starting next school year, students in grades K-8 will be given opportunities to earn additional deposits into their scholarship accounts by completing various incentives dependent on grade level. Thank you to Mrs. Dillow, the current Randolph County Promise Coordinator, for visiting us today and sharing this great news about your program with us!

The Hawk Award was created to celebrate our students and to encourage RCSC PRIDE including Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, Efficiency, and the following traits: good character, positive influence with peers and in the classroom, humble, academically motivated, and an overall good role model. This year's Male Student of the Year is Jayven Byrd! Jayven's teachers identified that he has been actively involved in school activities, meets all academic obligations, is hardworking, kind to others, follows through on things he starts, and shows all qualities of RCSC PRIDE. He is an outstanding student who continues to push himself and excel despite challenges and setbacks he has faced. Congratulations, Jayven! This year's Female Student of the Year is TaMerra Edwards! TaMerra is a positive presence at DMS. She is hardworking, kind, and respectful to her peers and all adults in the building. TaMerra is very conscientious about her grades, willing to ask questions, and goes above and beyond in everything she attempts to do. Her teachers all said that she is a joy to have in class and they appreciate her kindness and compassion on a daily basis. Great job, TaMerra!
