If your family has a child in 5th grade who will be going to Driver Middle School next year for 6th grade, check out this video! Our friends at Driver have put this together for you since we didn’t get to have Buddy Day. You’ll find this and more information in your 5th grade child’s email. Look for messages from the school counselor, Sadie Wright. Also, remember to respond to the message about choosing your music class. Thank you to our friends at Driver for putting this together and helping us be ready for 6th grade!

The letter pictured below is being mailed out to all Deerfield families today. It explains our plans for the collection of student belongings (items in classrooms, pictures, yearbooks) and the return of school property (library books, other classroom materials you may have). Each family has been assigned a time to come to school on Monday, May 18, to collect belongings and return items. The letter you get in the mail will list your assigned time. If you do not receive a letter within a few days, please call our office.

Are you looking for free or affordable preschool for your child? Randolph Central offers two preschool locations, Baker Elementary School and a new section at Deerfield Elementary School. Both programs are operated by the Greater Randolph Interlocal Cooperative (GRIC) in which Randolph Central is a partner. GRIC Preschool is an Early Childhood Special Education Program for children, ages 3-5, with typical peers welcome also. For children who qualify through GRIC's speech/language and developmental screenings, the program is free of charge. For typical peers or children who do not qualify for those specific services, you will find the preschool program beneficial for your child and very affordable. Click the link and complete the following questions for enrollment. Someone will be in contact with you before the program begins.

The Deerfield Food Pantry will take place as scheduled today from 3:30 to 5:00 (or until food runs out). Instead of entering the school, you'll simply drive up to the Second Harvest van parked in front of the school. You'll get a free bag of groceries and be on your way! We hope our Deerfield families will take advantage of this opportunity to get some free groceries close to home.

Our PTO Fundraiser delivery date has been rescheduled to Monday, May 11, 2020. Families who sold items for the fundraiser need to pick up items at Deerfield between 2:00 and 5:00 on May 11. You will simply drive up and stay in your car. We will load items into your trunk for you. Please think ahead about how you will deliver the items to those who bought from you while practicing safe social distancing. It is very important that all items sold be picked up on May 11. Thank you for planning ahead, and thank you for supporting our PTO.

Deerfield Families,
I'm reaching out this morning to share a few updates with you. I want to explain one important change we are making in this 4th grading period. This is a time in which traditional letter grades don't honor the realities facing our teachers, students, and families. We're staying focused on teaching and learning. We've developed a simple progress report that will hopefully communicate the academic strengths and areas in need of practice for each of our students. Families, we will be sharing out these progress reports weekly. You will be able to find your child's report in Google Classroom beginning this Friday, April 17. The report will be updated each Friday through the end of the school year. You can find more detail and a full update on our school website.

Please take care, and remember you can email your child's teacher if you are in need of help with lessons.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kile

The Governor issued an Executive Order today closing all K-12 schools and requiring each school to continue an extended learning plan that includes 160 student days. Randolph Central will continue eLearning Days on Mon., Tues., & Thurs. of each week. More info coming soon.

Good Morning! We are up and running with our second day of eLearning. It was great to see so many of our students working on their eLearning lessons yesterday. Parents, thank you for all you are doing to help your students complete their lessons. If you have any questions, contact your child's teacher or call our office.
If you still need to pick up a paper/pencil packet, those will be available in the lobby until 2:00 again today. If you are unable to get your packet, please call us. We'll work with you to find a solution. Call 765-595-0144 option 3 to reach the Deerfield office.

Hello! We’re reaching out this afternoon with two announcements.
1. The PTO Fundraiser Pick-Up scheduled for April 1 is rescheduled for May 13.
2. We have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel our performance of Annie that was scheduled for May 7.

Randolph Central is offering free Grab n’ Go lunches in five locations.
Ridgeville STEPS
Saratoga City Building
Driver Middle School (Door #1)
Baker Elementary (Front)
Willard Elementary (Front)
Lunches will be available from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday through Friday. All children 18 years of age and under can get a free lunch. The child must be present to receive the free meal.

The Deerfield Food Pantry will take place as scheduled tomorrow from 3:30-5:00. Instead of entering the school building, the pantry distribution will be a "tailgate" format. A Second Harvest van will be parked along the curb on the northwest corner of the school. Families will simply drive up using the "enter" side of the circle drive, collect a preassembled bag of food, and drive away using the "exit" side of the circle drive. We appreciate Second Harvest's flexibility as we work to find a way to make the food available to our families during this extended school closure. Please keep in mind, this food distribution is only available to families of Deerfield Elementary School students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for your patience as we have worked through many details over the weekend and into the day today regarding the extended school closure and plans for eLearning. You can access the information we have available at this time with the link below. You can also keep checking our Facebook page and school web page for details, or you can simply call the DES office. We will do our best to be of help as we get through these challenging weeks together.
